Yesterday I photographed some of the wonderful work my sister Pam has done for recent clients, the images will eventually go up on her very soon-to-be updated website. The energy and focus that goes into each invitation suite from the very first meeting to the completion is a detailed, creative and collaborative process between Pam and her client. The top ones are one of my favorite suites with the flower details, color combinations and fonts. I imagine it was a gorgeous wedding.
Many of her clients include their children in the collaborative process when it is a celebration catered to them. I happened to be with Pam on one of the days she met with Sarah, the client above. Sarah and her mother had some very creative ideas about colors and layout, it was especially fun to see how they turned out after listening in on that early meeting.
The initial design goes from the computer to color matching, printing, trimming, folding, tying and assembling. Custom designed and handmade invitations are one of the most lovely things one receives in the mail. While electronic invites are quick and easy, just as digital photos are; it’s the experience of holding the paper or photograph in your hand, displaying it on your fridge, bulletin board or desk and possibly coming across it years later tucked away in a drawer and remembering that beautiful celebration with loved ones.
