Just recently I have become an admirer of tillandsias, otherwise known as air plants. Thank you, Mom, for gifting me two (not pictured) a few weeks ago.
They are beautiful, require little maintenance and are not poisonous to kitties. While I was making the pinch pots for these Tiny Dancer stole the small air plant and ran off with it before I even noticed. Luckily she didn’t have time to eat much.
Using polymer clay I kneaded a small amount, formed it in two balls and created simple pinch pots. I sprinkled in teeny tiny pieces of pink clay to add bits of color to the larger one. Then I lightly pinched the outer rims, similar to pinching a pie crust and gently brushed on pieces of gold leaf. Finally, I followed the baking instructions and put the plants inside once the pots had cooled.
The fingerprints and scattered bits of gold foil against the bright white clay are two of my favorite things about how these turned out.
