I have a long standing date with Dad on Sunday mornings. We are both early birds, I believe that’s how it may have started. Just after sunrise on Sunday mornings I tumble out of bed, put on my sneakers and head out to meet Dad for a walk. We normally take the same route, sometimes altering it for special occasions like Father’s Day or a birthday. Dad has read the paper by then and we discuss current events. He fills me in on how his mom is doing or shares a phone conversation he had with a buddy of his that week. We watch the plum tree change through the seasons and scavenge for ripe ones we figure the owner won’t miss. Sometimes Kadee will join us if she is nearby and we used to be three with Hermie until he became allergic to bees. I love these mornings with Dad. It pains me to think about a time when we won’t have our walks. Off to meet Dad now and catch up.
