applesauce

My mom made this a few weeks ago and I have been thinking about it ever since. I  just made one serving for myself so I modified the super easy recipe.

The original recipe calls for 6 to 8 apples, skinned and cored. Place apples in a microwave safe dish with a lid. Add about 1/2 cup water and microwave for 8 to 10 minutes on high. Take out and add about 1/2 cup of sugar and mush apples. It is warm and delicious and best eaten right away.

For a single serving I used 2 apples, microwave safe dish with lid, skinned and cored apples, added a splash of water and microwaved on high for 5 minutes. My apples sat for about a minute after that with the lid on then I added about a teaspoon of sugar and mushed.

The apples used for both were a mixture of granny smith and honeycrisp and it tasted perfect. Can’t imagine I would ever want to use any other apples since it tasted so good.

Mom says I lived on hot dogs and applesauce when I was little (everything else went under the couch or on my little sister’s plate). I don’t eat hot dogs anymore but I do love applesauce….it is so good that I could eat it for breakfast, snack and dessert.
